Symbiosis is a collaborative project between Artists and Scientists at the Unversity of Dundee. It began in 2015 with a series of workshops and an exhibition for the Women in Science Festival in March of that year. The primary aim was to break-down some of the barriers by creating a space where conversations could happen in a very natural way through an engagement with art making, especially craft. One of the most successful pieces from that exhibition was this visualization of chromosomes.
Each pair of chromosomes was made by a different person. These were then assembled into the familiar shape photomicrograph, the chromosomes lined up in number order based on their size and shape.
